Rigid Couplings
Rigid couplings designed to create a fixed mechanical joint for grooved piping systems.
Victaulic
Victaulic grooved mechanical piping systems provide an alternative to welded and flanged connections by using grooved pipe ends, a pressure-responsive gasket, coupling housings, and bolts/nuts to create a reliable mechanical joint. The system supports faster installation, easier maintenance, and flexible project execution in industrial piping applications.
Overview
Victaulic grooved mechanical piping systems provide an alternative to welded and flanged connections by using grooved pipe ends, a pressure-responsive gasket, coupling housings, and bolts/nuts to create a reliable mechanical joint. The system supports faster installation, easier maintenance, and flexible project execution in industrial piping applications.
Key Applications
Strengths
Faster installation compared with traditional welded or flanged methods
Reduced hot work and welding-related site risk
Lower inspection and rework burden
Union capability at every joint for easier maintenance
Flexible coupling options for movement, deflection, and thermal expansion
Broad application experience in EPC and industrial projects
Why Victaulic
Victaulic grooved technology helps project teams reduce installation variability, simplify field work, and improve maintainability. For EPC contractors and industrial owners, the value is not only in the product itself, but in how the system can support schedule, safety, and long-term operation.
Designed to provide a fixed joint similar in behavior to welded or flanged connections.
Allow controlled linear and angular movement to accommodate deflection, vibration, and thermal expansion.
How It Works
Victaulic grooved technology combines the grooved pipe, gasket, coupling housing, and bolts/nuts to create a mechanical pipe joint.
01
A groove is cold-formed or machined into the pipe end to create the profile required for mechanical engagement.
02
A gasket is positioned inside the coupling housing and seats around the pipe ends to support sealing performance.
03
The housing engages into the grooves and is tightened with bolts and nuts to secure the joint.
Installation Comparison
Compared with traditional welded or flanged methods, grooved mechanical joining can help simplify installation, reduce hot work, and support easier maintenance access.
Installation
Up to 10x
Faster installation compared with conventional joining methods.
Safety
No Hot Work
Mechanical assembly helps reduce welding-related site risk and fume exposure.
Maintenance
Every Joint
Union capability at every coupling supports easier maintenance and retrofit work.
Industry Challenges
Schedule Delay
Multi-step welding and bolting work may increase field installation time.
Welding Quality Variation
Hot work, NDT, and rework can add complexity to site quality control.
Difficult Maintenance
Traditional joints may require cutting, welding, or heavy disassembly.
